As much as we enjoy having a carpeted area in the house, it is quite difficult to maintain a completely clean carpet.
They attract dust, absorb food particles and in case someone were to bleed on them, they need to be cleaned up immediately.
When it comes to tending blood stains on the carpet, I prefer getting to it sooner rather than later and I would recommend you do the same.
If you have little kids running around the house, chances are, they will spill a few drops of blood on the floor before you can tend to it.
As the stains get older, it is tougher to get them out of the carpet.
There are various ways to get these stains out of your carpet because letting them stay is just not an option.
These stains look unhygienic and visually unappealing.
Here are some of the methods that you can try to get blood stains out of your carpet.

Cold Water

This method requires you to dip a white cloth in cold water and apply it on the stain.
You can also use a spray bottle filled with cold water.
If the stain is large and you are using a spray bottle, start from the outside and work your way in so the stain does not spread.
Next, use a wet vacuum cleaner to suck moisture out of the carpet. In case you don’t have a wet vacuum cleaner, use a dry towel.
You can also place a fan in front of the carpet to fasten the process. If the stain remains, repeat the process.
After the stain is gone, just clean the area with a vacuum so all the remaining particles can be cleaned.
Detergent In Cold Water
Try this if the stain on your carpet has dried out.
Try brushing against the stain with a steel brush. This will loosen the stain a little and you can get out some particles out of the carpet.
Next, mix a little bit of detergent with some cold water. This will form a foamy liquid.
Take a white clean cloth and dip it in the detergent mix. Use the white clean cloth and blot the stained area.
White cloth is used in these situations so you can see if your method of removing the blood stain is working or not.
After blotting, see if the stain is gone. If not, dip the cloth and blot it again on the carpet.
You can repeat it until the stain is completely gone.
Detergent On Washcloth

Firstly, wet the stained area on the carpet using water.
Next, take a wet washcloth and apply some detergent on it.
Dab the wet washcloth and clean the stained area in all the directions so that there are no dirt particles left on the carpet.
Afterwards, you can clean it with a wet washcloth. In case the stain is still present, repeat the process.
Once dry, you can clean this area using a vacuum cleaner.
Ammonia Treatment
Mix one tablespoon of ammonia with a half cup of water and mix these two in a bowl.
Next, take a white cloth and dip it in the ammonia solution. Blot on the stain until the liquid is completely absorbed.
After that, apply some sponge dipped in cold water and blot dry. In case the stain isn’t completely gone, repeat this process.
Hydrogen Peroxide Treatment

Apply some hydrogen peroxide on the stained area of the carpet.
Let it rest for five to seven minutes. After it is done resting, rub it with a clean white towel.
Once the area is completely dry, use a vacuum cleaner to clean it up.
Hydrogen peroxide is even used in cleaning up ICUs at the hospital.
Salt Paste
Dab the stained area with a clean towel.
Proceed to spray it with some cold water. It is recommended that you shouldn’t use hot water for these tasks.
Mix some salt with a little bit of water so it can make a salt paste and apply it on the stained area.
After applying, let it sit for a few minutes so that the salt can absorb the moisture.
Afterwards, you can clean the area with a towel.
In case the stain hasn’t left the carpet yet, keep repeating the salt paste routine.
Meat Tenderizer

Take some unflavoured meat tenderizer and cold water in equal parts.
After you have formed this mixture, apply it on the stain. Later, let it sit for at least 15-20 minutes.
Then you can blot it with a clean white cloth.
After this process is done and the stain is gone, you can rinse the previously affected area using some liquid detergent and some cold water.
Conclusion
By using one of the above mentioned methods, you can clean the blood stain from your carpet.
There is no guarantee as to which kind of treatment would work on your carpet so the best thing you can do is, try.
Try using one method and try it various times with a few modifications so you can know if it’s working or not.
In case one method doesn’t work out, try using another method.
Out of all the eight given methods, one of them is bound to help your carpet.
It would be ideal if you clean your carpet on a weekly basis which involves you paying complete attention to all the stains it has absorbed throughout the week.
But in some cases, immediate attention must be given.
Blood on the carpet could be the result of a bloody nose or someone cutting themselves by accident, and if anything of such nature happens, your first action should be to take care of them.
After you are done, tend to the carpet area as well so you can maintain it for a long time.
Carpets are bound to get stains and no stain is too strong for them, but maintaining a carpet is essential if you want it to last a long time.
